I had an aunt in Ottawa; we would always go up for Canada Day. It was always a lot of fun, although my parents were scandalized by all the drunk people. :-)
My parents live very close to the border of Quebec and are generally anti-Canada (because of the gay marriage and other socialist things, I suppose). Last year I visited Vancouver and snapped a picture in a bookstore of a banner that said "The world needs more Canada" with Canadian author names, and of course my mother's comment was, My world doesn't! Hmmph.
